Where to buy ingredients

Hot spots (acute moist dermatitis) spread fast and usually need vet treatment. In the meantime a cooled green tea compress is astringent, mildly antibacterial and soothing. Alcohol-free witch hazel adds drying.

Method

  1. 1

Brew, cool completely, add witch hazel.

How to use

  • Trim fur around the spot if you can. Soak the cloth and hold on the spot 5 minutes, 2–3 times a day. Let air-dry; keep your dog from licking (a cone helps).

Safety

  • Hot spots often need antibiotics. If it's bigger than a 20-cent coin, smelly, or spreading, see the vet today.
