Different problems look alike on a glass. This guide helps you tell etching (permanent) from film (fixable) and spots (rinse aid) so you reach for the right recipe.
Method
- 1
Clears with vinegar → mineral film. Fix: descale cycle, citric rinse aid, slightly less detergent.

Doesn't clear, looks like tiny scratches or rainbow sheen → etching. Permanent. Prevent: less detergent, lower temperature, don't pre-rinse spotless.

Water droplet spots only → rinse aid dispenser empty or set too low.

Greasy film → detergent too weak or water not hot enough. Add 1 tsp washing soda to the next load.
